This 5.5 mile walk takes us from Hanham Lane, Paulton following the route of the Somersetshire Coal Canal to Dunkerton.
We’ll look at the industrial heritage of this area, including the terminus of the canal, which is being restored and includes a dry dock and stone bridge. We also pass Churches at Withy Mills and Radford Mill.
The route is is scenic countryside. We’ll stop for a picnic lunch on the way (please bring snacks, food and drink as there are no shops on the route). There are some steep sections, rough paths and kissing gates. There are two stiles on the route.
Dogs are welcome on this walk, as are children able and willing to walk over 5 miles.
You can meet the walk leaders, Jean and David, at Odd Down P&R and travel together, or meet them at the start of the walk in Hanham Lane.
