An exploration of the National Trust’s Landscape Garden at Prior Park, once owned by Ralph Allen, Bath’s famous eighteenth century entrepreneur, followed by a tour of some key buildings in Bath linked to Allen’s life and work.

We will guide you through the story of Ralph Allen’s garden including the Palladian Bridge etc; and discuss his life and lasting legacy.

We’ll start at the main entrance to Prior Park Landscape Garden on Ralph Allen Drive, BA2 5AH.  The walk is a stroll downhill, finishing near the Pump Rooms.

Practicalities: This walk is downhill most of the way, on pavements and footpaths, with some steeper, uneven sections.

It’s 3 hours covering 2 miles.  No dogs, other than assistance/guide dogs please.

Please make sure you book via Eventbrite and bring your tickets with you. If you are a National Trust member please bring your membership card along to be scanned.

Facilities: There is no parking at the start.  It’s a mile walk to the start from the railway station. Or catch the No2 bus from stop BK on Dorchester Street, the bus runs every 30 mins, alight at the bus stop just in front of Prior Park Landscape Garden entrance gate.  There are toilets and refreshments in the Gardens.
