We are working with a group of people interested in the Bath Union Workhouse Burial Ground, just by the Wellsway, Odd Down.

Many people don’t realise that the field is a burial ground that does not exist on a current map.  There are over 3100 bodies lying here in unmarked graves, the last remains of those who died of poverty in the Bath workhouse between 1858 and 1899. There is no memorial.

You can find out more here.

We would like to hear from anyone who is interested in this site.  Do you live locally and would like to be involved in finding a lasting memorial?  Would you like to join Richard White’s regular walks here?

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in researching the stories of the people buried here. Their names are known, but where did they come from, how did they end up here, what are their stories? Or you may have an ancestor buried here and would like to know more.

If you’d like to be involved in any way, please get in touch with Bathscape or with Richard via his website.
