Hidden in a vale on the edge of Bath is Smallcombe Cemetery.

It is surrounded by ancient woodland and gently sloping hills, making it particularly stunning in the early morning light.

Recent restoration work from a committed group of individuals and members of Bath Natural History Society ensures that wildlife thrives here.

Best accessed on foot, it is a short and rewarding detour from the National Trust’s Bath Skyline walk. You can also walk here from the Kennet & Avon Canal.

A short walk round the Skyline route will bring you to a classic view of the city from the beautiful meadows of Bathwick Fields.
